Mizuno mark the arrival of a World Cup year by giving their Morelia some Brazilian flavour. Although not updated as often as their speedy sibling, new paint-jobs gifted to the Morelia always come up trumps in our books. The new Aurora/Black/Chinese Red colourway adds some Samba style to a boot that's graced the World Cup stage since 1986.
Nearly three decades on and the Mizuno Morelia is still a class apart, offering the finest quality leather and craftsmanship. When it comes to styling the Morelia, Mizuno can always be depended on to get the right balance between old and new. The latest design is another example of Mizuno's keen eye for a strong colourway - bright yes, garish no.
Winter generally see's a lot of bright boots being released and the Morelias's new Aurora/Black/Chinese Red colourway follows that trend. The latest Morelia drop arrives alongside the new AF KR2 'Made In Japan' pack and the Pearl/Blue/Orange Morelia Neo. More is expected from the Japanese brand in the build up to the World Cup with suggestions of an all new model in the pipe-line.
Techwise, it's the same tried and tested package from Mizuno; a durable and supple k-leather upper that aids fit and comfort is complimented by an EVA sockliner (Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate) with foam that's specially engineered for shock absorption.
The upper is finished with a solid in-built heel counter, and attached to a moulded PU stud plate. The studs are strategically placed to improve traction and weight distribution, whilst combining with the heel counter to improve stability, comfort and control.
Lightweight football boots may generally dominate boot design today, but there is always a place for timeless classics such as the Mizuno Morelia. Details such as a classic fold over tongue give a nod to the boots heritage roots whilst modern materials and cool new colourways keep the boots relevant.
The new Aurora/Black/Chinese Red Mizuno Morelia MD football boots are available from selected stockists including Pro-Direct Soccer. What do you think of the new colour update? Let us know. Join the conversation online, on Twitter and on Facebook.
