Six months after launching their next generation Wave Ignitus Mizuno have landed a third and most energetic colour update yet as part of their Winter 13 collection. Dropping in Orange/Black the new Ignitus packed with all of Mizuno's shooting technology.
Keisuke Honda wore and scored in the boots for the first time in CSKA Moscow's 3-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League this week and the bright orange vibe projected a stand out look on the snowy Russian pitch. Mizuno are careful with their colour updates, they release them less frequently and Ignitus fans have had to wait since June to finally get a look at the third colour update of the series.
The third generation Ignitus is engineered by Mizuno with a redesigned and improved Mukaiten panel, which Mizuno say produces even deadlier 'non spin' movement, reducing the rotation of the ball to make dead-ball situations more lethal. The idea being that keepers find the flight of the ball difficult to judge, the ball will shift in the air when struck from distance.
The Wave Ignitus 3 features a premium lightweight synthetic upper making it the lightest Ignitus to date. The Japanese know a thing or two about technology and the Ignitus is packed with it, the Tatekaiten vamp panel on the top of the foot is designed to increase top spin and the Yokokaiten panel on the in-step is more rigid creating extra-side spin and accuracy, similar in theory to Predator.
The heel of the boot has also received maintenance from the last editions to deliver added cushioning and stability while the outsole maximises traction and minimises stud pressure on firm ground. The mesh tongue has gone from the second Ignitus and has been replaced with a synthetic version which is designed to avoid any slipping down the boot.
It's a bold design and one of the brightest on the market, you'll struggle to match it up with many kits but the new Ignitus is unmissable on pitch. The Wave Ignitus is a boot full of innovations and ideal for shooting from outside the box, all wrapped up in one of Mizuno's brightest colour combos yet.
The new Orange/Black Mizuno Wave Ignitus 3 is available from selected stockists including Pro-Direct Soccer. What do you think of the colour update? Let us know. Join the conversation online, on Twitter and on Facebook.
