Handmade Mizuno Morelia AF KR Collection - Football Boots

Combining signature aesthetics with top-end craftsmanship, Mizuno extend their 'Made In Japan' series with the new Morelia AF KR2 collection. The super premium line that first launched back in December 2012, delivers pinnacle hand-made football boots usually reserved for Mizuno's professional elite.

Crafted by hand from super supple kangaroo leather, these Mizuno Morelia AF (Anatomical Fit) KR2 football boots are a true classic in terms of design and fit. The Mizuno guarantee of quality and comfort is delivered in every stitch, with promises of a new level of elite footwear. Three stylish colourways make up the new collection.





The Japanese company assure us that the 'Made In Japan' collection is crafted to the same specifications and put through the exact production processes as offered to their professional players. The journey of an elite football boot is a precise process which leaves little to no margin for error.





The arduous process that goes into making each boot explains the price tag Mizuno attach to their 'Made In Japan' boots. Each of the Morelia AF KR2 boots are priced at approximately £200. To justify the price hike, Mizuno use the highest grade of leather afforded to leather football boots and usually reserved for endorsed athletes.





The kangaroo leather used is called Scotchguard, meaning during the tanning and conditioning of the material it is treated with a liquid silicone to be waterproof, stain resistant and more durable. One of the biggest differences for the Mizuno 'Made In Japan' collection is they are kept in the last for 24 hours, allowing the upper to form a better shape and offer a better fit.





For a standrad manufactured boot, this difference in time is quite comparable. Normal retail boots are left in the last for just 20 minutes. This additional dedication afforded to the production process goes some way to explaining the boots price point. For the time spent making one 'Japan' boot, seventy-two standard editions could be produced!
