Ahead of the Super Cup match between Porto and Barcelona, Mizuno has revealed that brand ambassador Hulk will wear a unique pair of Mizuno Morelia football boots for the big game.
The gold boots have been specially designed and embroidered to commemorate the Brazilian star’s remarkable 2010/2011 season, during which FC Porto won the Portuguese League, the League Cup and the Europa League Cup, with Hulk himself achieving top goal scorer status in the Liga Sagres with 23 goals. An accomplishment Mizuno acknowledged by also awarding Hulk the Mizuno Trophy.
The Brazilian footballer is a Mizuno ambassador and has played a fundamental role in the research and development of the brand’s heritage boot. It seemed only fitting therefore that 25-year-old Hulk would be presented with a bespoke pair of Mizuno’s legendary Morelia boot as he takes on one of the biggest clubs in the European Super Cup.
The Mizuno Morelia Ultra Light football boots are currently being championed by Hulk, and have been popular with Brazilian players, not just because they are constructed using lightweight kangaroo leather, but also because of their new Brazilian colourway.
"For a football player the most important thing is to play with a light, comfortable boot with strong traction and nobody understands that better than Mizuno,” said the Hulk. “Mizuno have been producing market leading football products for years and I feel very privileged to have played my part in developing those.”
Steeped in history and tradition, the Morelia has been worn by such greats as Rivaldo and Zola. First introduced in Brazil during the early 1980s, the Morelia was constructed to meet player demands for a light, flexible boot that would enhance South American skill, flair and control. Preserving the classic look of the Morelia, the boot has evolved over the years through subtle technical advances and has quickly become recognised as a true classic in terms of design, fit and comfort.
What do we think of Hulk's bespoke Mizuno Morelia football boots, a Gold boot always catches the eye when celebrating a special occasion. As always we'd love to hear your opinions by joining the conversations with the SoccerBible community online, on Twitter and on Facebook.
