If you've got haters as a professional footballer then it's the ultimate compliment, it means you're doing something right, or you're Joey Barton. The new video from adidas plays on their players using the hate from the opposition terraces to fuel the confidence to deliver even greater performances.
A sense of playful arrogance is captured by the voiceover as adidas invite rival fans to "bring on the hate" using the perceived lives of 'Hero' Gareth Bale, ‘Golden Boy’ James Rodríguez, ‘Target Man’ Luis Suárez, and ‘Hip Hop VIP’ Karim Benzema. The video takes a whirlwind tour of the perceived lives of these players, focusing on their flash lifestyles, over exuberant goal celebrations, possessions and good looks.
The film illustrates exactly how, why, and what the haters hate about them the most… their outstanding on-pitch achievements and the boots that drive these incredible performances. “They hate your shiny new boots. They hate your boots… because they wish they were in them”.
As well as being released in line with the new football footwear range for 2015 which includes a Predator, Nitrocharge, 11Pro and next-gen adizero f50, the campaign marks the beginning of a more edgy and unpredictable adidas who aren't afraid to shake things up.
