The commemorative adidas Predator Instinct ‘Tongue’ boots are the second in an extended series of special Predator models set to land throughout the rest of 2014 that are designed to embrace the history of the adidas Predator. Strict numbers of the boots have been produced and there has been no exact figure from adidas. We’ve been hooked up with a pair to bring you an exclusive closer look at the special edition boots.
The boots recognise the one feature most synonymous with the history of the adidas Predator; the tongue. Following the release of the adidas Predator Touch in 1996, the red fold-over tongue became an instant fan-favourite and went on to feature on future models including the Predator Accelerator, Precision, Mania, Pulse, Absolute and Powerswerve. In recent years though the fold-over tongue has fallen victim to the modernisation of football boots. For many it will be a sweet sight to see the tongue back on the Predator, albeit for a limited time.
The fold-over tongue, that is designed in a similar shape to some of the earliest Predator models, features the iconic ‘Predator' wordmark below the nostalgia-evoking Predator eyes that first appeared on the inside tongue of the Predator '94 and Predator Rapier. Collectors looking to cop a pair should keep an eye on @adidasfootball's Twitter.
The limited edition boots use the adidas Predator Instinct as a base template but don’t carry any of the main features found on the latest model. Like the Predator 'Eyes', the boots feature an all over textured print reminiscent of elements found on the Predator 1994, Rapier and LZ.
Stay tuned as we’ll also be bringing you a closer look at the adidas Predator Instinct ‘Tongue’ football boots. Let us know what you think of the design in the comments below.
