The release of the adidas Earth Pack earlier this week was the brand's fourth boot collection launched to countdown to the World Cup in Brazil this summer, each of which are inspired by aspects of the host country. With the Earth pack set to see players out until the end of the domestic season, we're taking a look back at all four of adidas' boot collections influenced with Samba flavour.
Each boot pack has been used to build momentum on the road to Rio ahead of adidas revealing another pack that'll be worn on pitch this summer by their contracted players. We've put the Samba Pack, Copa Pack, Carnaval Pack and Earth Pack together to assess adidas' World Cup preparations and to help you select your top boot pack.
Samba Pack - Kicking off adidas' World Cup countdown was the Samba Pack that launched in November last year. Inspired by the colourful lifestyle and carnival spirit of Brazil, the Samba Pack consisted of bright new paint jobs across all four of adidas' silos, as well as debut outings for the new generation F50 and adiPURE.
Going all out to make a statement the Samba Pack mirrored the eccentric and colourful atmosphere expected when the tournament kicks off in June. Each of the silos was worn on pitch by adidas' contracted professional players after a long and successful tease campaign by the brand.
Copa Pack - The first World Cup pack to land in 2014 was the adidas Samba Copa Mundial collection. The dust had only just settled from the shock release of a white adidas Copa Mundial when adidas dropped five new, limited edition, Samba inspired colourways on the world's best selling football boot.
Reinterpreting one of the most recognisable boots of all time was not a task that was taken lightly but if adidas were going to do it, this was the year. The colourways matched those of the previous Samba pack and although met with some criticism from traditionalists the pack provided players with a modern and alternative Copa. No one pitch presence but still, one of the most talked about boot packs for a long time.
Carnaval Pack - The next pack arrived in spectacular style. The Carnaval Pack landed in early March with a stunning set visuals inspired by the festival that draws millions of people to Brazil every year - one of the most famous festival weekends in the world.
The design on the upper of each silo is influenced by the feathers and ticker tape that engulf the festival of celebration and colour. The reflective finish on the Carnaval Pack was designed to capture the light and spread it like ticker tape. Only Brazil players Oscar and Fernandinho wore the boots on pitch in a friendly against South Africa.
Earth Pack - Rounding off the World Cup countdown was the recently released Earth Pack. Consisting of new designs across each silo the Earth Pack's colourways were taken from Brazil's famed rain forests and the city of Manaus in the heart of the Amazon and where England are set to kick off their World Cup against Italy).
The Earth Pack will be worn by all adidas players from April 1st and right through to the last game of their domestic seasons. This is where the preparations, the countdowns and the hype ends, things get serious from now on and all eyes will be on what adidas have lined up for what is set to be one of the greatest World Cups of all time.
All of the above adidas football boots are available now from selected stockists including Pro-Direct Soccer. Which pack gets your vote? Let us know. Join the conversation online, on Twitter and on Facebook.
