Ahead of the quarter final draw on Friday, adidas have landed a new Champions League edition colourway on the adizero F50. Set to be worn for the first time by players in the last 8 of the competition at the beginning of April.
Officially labelled as glow/earth green/solar zest (or greeny/yellow if you prefer) the new paint job is a typically vibrant F50 design that you'd associate with the silo. The Three Stipes often use the Champions League as the ideal stage to drop a new boot and the Champions League edition F50 will be worn by the likes of Bastian Schweinsteiger, Jordi Alba and Diego Costa on the 1st and 2nd of next month.
Tech wise, it's as you were. The F50 adizero has undergone a series of transformations from the previous generation, most noticeably the semi-transparent upper material towards the back of the boot. A revolutionary material known as SPEEDFOIL that combines lightweight, softness and durability for a comfortable, yet locked down heel fit.
Hybridtouch technology is placed on striking surface of the boot; a super soft high performance upper material designed for use in all weather conditions. Further down the boot adidas use a 3D raised grip texture to aid high speed dribbling in dry and wet conditions called Dribbletex.
A high speed stud alignment called Speedtraxion features on the soleplate of the F50 adizero, designed for maximum acceleration and quicker turns allowing players to change direction at pace without losing their footing.
Although the current generation F50 was only launched in November last year, this Champions League edition colourway is the 9th (10th if you count Crazylight) paint job to land on the latest speed silo. Orange, blue, blackout, whiteout, black/blue, slime, Messi & Carnaval, take your pick.
The new Champions League edition adidas adizero F50 will be available from selected online retailers including Pro-Direct Soccer from April 1st. Like what you see? Let us know. Join the conversation online, on Twitter and on Facebook.
