After revealing the Primeknit FS yesterday, adidas have now further explained the technology used to make the world’s first all-in-one football boot and sock hybrid. The footballing world was shook yesterday as adidas revealed plans to launch an epic new boot concept and now they've gone into detail on how the boot will be made and what it will offer.
Re-writing the rule book on football boot design adidas' Primeknit FS is like nothing seen before. An advanced step from the recently released Primeknit boot, the FS features a sock that is designed to fit from toe to calf with no necessary joints or excess materials.
The sock provides complete integrated functionality, with each zone optimised for different performance needs. The knitted structure of the sock is made up of strong, interlocking lightweight threads, which are finished with a water resistant coating, making every single thread extremely durable to all conditions.
Another distinct feature of the Primeknit FS is that the boot has no edges, overlay or laces; adidas' logic behind this is that the boot will offer a seamless ball touch area, the perfect sweet spot for striking the ball.
Understandably players will be sceptical about the Primeknit FS, it's only natural that the biggest design chance to football boots in decades will cause concern but it's hard to deny you wouldn't fancy trying a pair out. Whether you love it or hate it, you're going to have to get used to it - with adidas describing the concept as the 'future of football' it's here to stay.
The stud configuration works with the sock fit to take each twist and turn to offer optimum stability when changing direction at speed. Still not sold? Ok, well one thing we can all surely agree on is it's good to see the famous Predator black/white/red colourway is back. With Nike also launching their new Magista concept yesterday the battle between football's biggest brands is more fierce than ever. Your call, Primeknit FS or Magista?
