As the road to Rio becomes increasingly shorter adidas continue to roll out new kits for their international teams. Next up are defending champions Spain with the release of a bold black and neon away kit, a colour combination never used by Spain before and inspired by "the country's lively culture".
Always a fan of black kits, the new design works for us. Three neon stripes contrast with black sleeves whilst another neon stripe is placed around the chest. As with all adidas Word Cup kits there is further stripe across the shoulders of the shirt, a nice touch that unifies all of adidas' nations who are competing in Brazil.
The Spanish Football Federation badge is placed on the left of the chest and the adidas logo has been bumped into the middle of the chest to accommodate the 'FIFA World Champions' crest, reminding their opponents who they are dealing with when trying to take away their crown.
According to adidas the black and neon kit is inspired by "meaningful features of the cheerful, alive, bustling, social and colorful Spanish culture. A character that motivates relations and joyful moments to share. A strongly social nature that provides gathering together opportunities, such as the National Football Team recent victories. A colorful and unique culture shared by the new away equipment." Quite a mouthful.
Inline with the rest of adidas' kits for Brazil 2014 the new design is lighter and cooler than previous incarnations to help cope with South American summer temperatures. The new away kit will first be worn on pich at the Vicente Calderón stadium when Spain continue their World Cup preparations by taking on Italy in a friendly match on March 5th.
The new adidas Spain away Kit will be available from selected retailers including Pro-Direct Soccer. What do you think of the new design? Let us know. Join the conversation online, on Twitter and on Facebook.
