The SL versions of the adidas Predator LZ have often taken an undeserved backseat to the standard issues in recent seasons. On paper the LZ SL is everything you'd want in a boot; the lightweight factor of the F50 combined with the technology of the Predator, but as one of the games only £200+ boots, they're often overlooked.
The release of the second generation Predator LZ has seen a collection of slick colourways land on the famous boot's lighter brother making players more aware that there's a lighter, albeit slightly pricier alternative on the market. We don't think the LZ SL gets the credit it deserves, the perfect combination of adidas' top two boots. The beautiful love-child of the Predator LZ and F50.
The Predator LZ isn't the first boot that offered an SL version, the trait was first used on the adiPower model and into the first generation LZ but adidas have taken the SL to the next level this season with a series of scintillating updates.
Pro players seen in the SL is limited and perhaps that’s testament to the quality of the standard Predator LZ and F50, but if you're willing to try the SL you'll be rewarded with a boot that delivers exceptional quality. For F50 players you add a bit of technology of the Lethal Zones and for Predator players you shave a that extra weight off your boot.
You can get away with anything in the boot department these days, take advantage of that. If your pockets are deep enough, the adidas Predator LZ SL is arguable the first SL model from adidas that is worth the extra cash. Sure they're a little "look at me", but which boots aren't nowadays.
So why not get something a little more interesting? Choose a boot your old man would hate, choose a boot that will have centre halves trying to chop you in two. So if you've got what it takes to pull them off, do it. We won't judge you.
With four top notch designs and a tech sheet armed with enough to blow your tiny minds, we're tipping the Predator LZ SL to become a serious contender in 2014. Everything about the boot is right, the concept, the execution, the visuals, the only thing wrong with them is that they're not in our kit bag.
