Leo Messi will have defenders in La Liga filling their pantalones this week as he returned to full training following his injured spell on the sidelines. The Barca man was making his belated first appearance in the new F50, but in typical Messi fashion, they weren't any ordinary out-of-the-box model.
The 4 time Ballon d'Or winner is renown for wearing leather editions of the F50 and despite adidas offering an updated leather model, Messi has been supplied a custom pair of adizero boots bespoke with a custom stitched leather forefoot.
Messi's hybrid boots have been built using the same leather stitching found on the previous F50 generation. The taurus leather forefoot combines with the standard-issue SpeedFoil technology used across the rear quarter of the boot - a unique composite material that is highly durable and makes the boots super-lightweight.
In the past Messi has worn customised leather models of his own signature boots that are only offered to the public in a synthetic upper. Despite adidas updating the sythetic material used on the standard issue boots to the popularly received HybridTouch material, Messi still seems to favour traditional leather.
Messi has been out of action since 10th November when he injured his hamstring against Real Betis but he's been declared fully fit to return to competitive action in tonight's Copa del Rey 5th round tie at the Nou Camp against Getafe. Great news for Barcelona, not such great news for Getafe. Should only be a matter of minutes until he opens his account in his new customised F50.
