For their first release of 2014 adidas have reached for the colouring box with a bright re-working of their Predator LZ SL platform. They've already shown they're not going to wait for the summer to break out bright multitudes of colour. Think you can pull them off? Good luck to you.
You know times have changed when an adidas Predator can look like this. The new White/Silver/Slime Predator LZ SL is a wild concoction of colours that are totally out of this world. Released in tandem with a Black/Slime edition, the new boots kick off what is set to be a big year for adidas and the industry as a whole.
With the 2014 World Cup looming expect a lot of Brazilian themed colourways to be rolled out in the lead up, much in the same vein as the adidas Samba Pack. The latest Predator LZ is another artistic treat from the three stripes. While many of us wouldn't be caught wearing a pair, it's hard to knock the design. Adidas have taken a detour from conventional boot design and created a futuristic number that's in a realm of its own.
If you are brave enough to see how they come off at your local water-logged pitch this winter, then what's there to know about the Predator LZ SL? Weighing just 199g, they're a weight conscious upgrade of the Predator LZ. Any excess weight has been discarded to create a great boot for anyone after a lightweight version of adidas' standard Predator.
Every measure has been taken to keep the weight of the Predator LZ SL to a bare minimum. The boots are built upon the same SprintFrame chassis as the previous incarnation of the F50 adizero and feature a SprintSkin upper in place of the standard Hybridtouch material. A thinner, F50 inspired tongue is also used to trim off further weight.
The modifications that create the adidas Preadtor LZ SL result in the lightest platform to date for the Predator series, all without jeopardizing performance. Once you've laced up the Predator LZ SL you'll find the same levels of fit, feel and comfort in that of the standard edition Predator.
The SL may be physically lighter but the price tag is a bit weightier than that of the standard issues, so if you're eyeing up a pair then you'll have to be prepared to part with an extra £60
The new White/Silver/Slime adidas Predator LZ SL football boots will be available from selected stockists including Pro-Direct Soccer. What do you think of the new colour update? Let us know. Join the conversation online, on Twitter and on Facebook.
