Germany and adidas have unveiled an all white home kit for the FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil. Germany and adidas have produced some of the best looking kits in recent international tournaments and they continue that trend with the release of their latest home shirt.
The kit consists of the traditional white shirt and introduces white shorts and socks. The most striking feature is the new chest graphic made of different reds, which interprets the German flag. Three stars on the chest symbolise the World Cup successes in 1954, 1974 and 1990. Silver design elements, such as the new DFB logo, refine the home kit.
According to chief designer for adidas football apparel Jürgen Rank the all white look "symbolises the lightness of the German game. It is a statement of class, elegance and playfulness." Well said Mr Rank. We bet the national team kitman isn't as enthusiastic, those grass stains will take some shifting.
The new kit will be worn for the first time on Friday 15th November when Germany travel to Milan to take on Italy in a friendly. Tipped by many as one of the favourites in Brazil, the Germans will be confident of carrying their domination of the Champions League last season into the World Cup.
The weight of expectation will be heavier than ever for a German side in their prime but the shirts on their backs will be quite the opposite, the new ultra-light polyester material called adizero results in the shirt being 40% lighter than previous versions.
The new adidas Germany shirt will be available from selected online stockists including Pro-Direct Soccer. Let us know what you think of it. Join the conversation online, on Twitter and on Facebook.
