The adidas F50 adizero has become a phenomenon in recent seasons. Its lightweight upper and slick design always make for one of the most exciting releases in the boot calendar. The new model is another statement of intent from adidas who have given the silo its biggest overhaul yet.
Some of the world's greatest and fastest players including Leo Messi, Gareth Bale and Arjen Robben have embraced the F50 adizero and helped establish it as one of the game's leading football boots. Much like the original adizero, which took the 2010 World Cup by storm, the fifth generation model has its sights set on a successful World Cup in 2014.
The new F50 adizero lands in two bold colourways - Solar Zest and Solar Blue. The famous three stripes are placed horizontally onto both sides of the boot, with the stripes on the outstep running down towards the toe. The adidas logo is placed onto the heel of the boot and the word adizero features on the semi-transparent SPEEDFOIL material.
Inside the boot is the Samba inspired patterned design found across the whole collection with the words 'Samba 14'. The colour combo continues on the tongue of the boot as adidas get into the carnival party atmosphere ahead of the World Cup in Brazil.
Tech-wise the F50 adizero has undergone a series of transformations to incorporate new technologies. Most noticeably the semi-transparent upper material towards the back of the boot. A revolutionary material known as SPEEDFOIL that combines lightweight, softness and durability for a comfortable, yet locked down heel fit.
HYBRIDTOUCH technology is placed on striking surface of the boot; a super soft high performance upper material designed for use in all weather conditions. Further down the boot adidas use a 3D raised grip texture to aid high speed dribbling in dry and wet conditions called DRIBBLETEX.
An all new high speed stud alignment called SPEEDTRAXION features on the soleplate of the F50 adizero, designed for maximum acceleration and quicker turns allowing players to change direction at pace without losing their footing.
There are still some recognisable adidas features under the bonnet as adidas have kept their tried and tested SprintFrame and as with all adidas boots apart from the new 11Pro the miCoach cell is found on the sole of the F50. But will they be released in leather? Yep, adidas will once again offer the F50 in a much adored leather version too. So there you have it, the all new F50, what are we thinking?
