Yamamoto is an award winning Japanese fashion designer and first hooked up with adidas in 2003 to launch the Y-3 line, a premium label of adidas fashion clothing. Three years later he dipped into football design taking inspiration from his fellow countryman, artist Taishi Hayashi, to create four boots, including the Y-3 +F50 Tunit Wolf edition.
Much like the new adidas Yamamoto F50 adizero the Tunit Wolf edition featured the animals face on the front of the boot. The snarling jaws of the Wolf wrapped around the toes of the boot to create a mean looking design that packed some serious personality. The eyes of the Wolf were placed on either side of the boot and the rest of the upper was decorated with a fur print.
Just 1000 pairs were released into the wild with each pair coming locked in its own cage, brandished with a plaque embossed with the adidas logo. Yohji Yamamoto's signature was scribbled onto one of the famous three stripes to give each pair authenticity and to complete the ultimate limited edition boot.
Each design perfectly matched the adidas F50.6 Tunit football boots which were fully interchangeable, and could be built upon arrival at the ground depending on the playing conditions. As well as either a 'Pro-Lite Speed' or 'Comfort' chassis, the adidas Tunit system incorporated SG, FG and HG studs, giving you three boots in one.
The adidas Y-3 Yamamoto +F50 Tunit YY football boots are currently on sale at Richmond Classics. The new limited edition adidas Yamamoto adizero F50 football boots are available to pre-order now exclusively from adidas and Pro-Direct Soccer. Let us know what you think of the boots.
