Pep Guardiola spoke ahead of Bayern Munich's 3-0 win against CSKA Moscow in their opening Champions League game of the season. Bayern's new gaffer explained on how he plans to continue the club's legacy, the challenges that lie ahead and what the Champions League means to him.
Guardiola knows a thing or two about the Champions League having won the tournament as a player and leading Barcelona to glory as a manager in 2009 and 2011 and he rates the competition as the hardest in the world. Pep insisted his players were ready and he wasn't wrong, goals from Alaba, Mandzukic and Robben secured the points as the holders began their title defence in style.
Manchester City are next up for Guardiola and Bayern Munich at the Etihad on Wednesday 2nd October in what should be their toughest test in Group D. Viktoria Plzen complete the group in which Bayern should have no real problems of qualifying for the knockout stages. Can they go all the way again? We wouldn't bet against it...
