When adidas are after feedback regarding any developments to the Predator silo, there's usually one man they turn to. Steven Gerrard knows better than most about what makes a good Predator boot. The Liverpool captain has been playing professionally in the boots for nearly fifteen years.
So after recent pictures emerged of the England captain wearing a mystery black-out boot, it's only right to assume that adidas have an updated Predator model around the corner. A successor to the Predator LZ seems imminent and from the looks of Gerrard's boots, adidas are preparing to make some exciting changes.
Close-up images of Gerrard's boots reveal a newly textured upper. The 'Lethal Zones' concept was a success - it redefined the Predator silo, shifting focus from power to control. We expect adidas to retian this and make the 2013 model an extension to the 'Lethal Zones' brand, but with enhancements and modifications made across the boot.
So is this a 'Lethal Zones II'? In theory yes, but adidas aren't usually keen on naming their boots that way. Much like each adizero generation, we expect this boot to still carry the 'Predator Lethal Zones' tag, but without any extension to the name - just another way adidas differ from their American rivals at Nike!
If the Predator LZ still has some Predator fans to convince - Robin Van Persie comes to mind - the boots second incarnation might be up to the job. They've had a lot of time to consider how to upgrade the Predator LZ and would have received huge levels of professional and amateur feedback - we're sure Stevie G wasn't short of suggestions!
