Adidas are really making a statement as their design and creative departments go into overdrive, launching an array of new football boots this summer. Next up is the new 11Pro SL football boots in this very sharp looking White/Black/Orange colour combination, adidas' latest super-lightweight K leather offering...
Breaking the rules for what a 'heritage' boot should be, the new adidas 11Pro SL football boots combine super-lightweight innovation with a classic feel. Weighing in at a mere 180grams the SL is 60g lighter than the standard 11Pro, and offers yet another variation and alternative to lightweight leather football boots.
Despite developing football boots for over half a century, adidas are continuing to raise their own bar for boot development and product advancement. The 11Pro and 11Pro SL are born out of the adiPure range, a range that is younger than both the Predator and F50! With the likes of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Frank Lampard as lead wearers, the 11Pro is redefining the touch/heritage market.
The upper of the adidas 11Pro SL combines a super soft K-leather upper – an upgrade from the Taurus leather used on the standard issues – with adidas' revolutionary single layer Sprintskin synthetic. The two materials combine from front to back, with the Sprintskin providing the necessary lightweight in the heel area.
Since the development of the SprintFrame back in 2010, adidas have revolutionised their major boot silo's as lightweight performance has taken prominence in the boot market. The adidas 11Pro SL outsole unit features a triangular traxion stud configuration in place of the conical stud shapes found on the standard issues. Much like the adizero, these are designed to offer improved directional grip at high speeds.
The lightweight sole unit of the adidas 11Pro SL integrates adidas' miCoach technology through the cavity in the outsole. The benefit of which is to allow you to compete, share and compare your performance statistics. Measuring time, distance, speed, speed zones and number of sprints during a training session or a match, as the adidas miCoach Speed cell stores all your performance data.
Comfort throughout the adidas 11Pro SL is retained through an anatomically moulded EVA insole, similar to the one featured in the adiPure IV, but with the benefit of flex-zones in the forefoot to assist movement and improve fit. A soft suede-like synthetic leather lining provides additional comfort, whilst reducing any foot movement within the boot for a more secure fit, and a super-light insole is also provided.
Adidas have yet to outline whether the White/Black/Orange 11Pro SL will receive player support from the likes of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Frank Lampard, or whether these boots will go on the market non-endorsed, whilst adidas keep their lead assets in the standard versions. But the look is a subtle one, and we think these boots would look good with most team kits.
Certainly over the last 18 months adidas haven't failed to surprise the boots community, and we're eager to see the reaction to these latest adidas 11Pro SL soccer cleats. Interestingly the price matches the original adiPure SL at around £175 GBP / $280 USD / €210 EURO, so perhaps adidas pitched a bit low with the first 11Pro SL. Available to pre-order now from selected stockists, we're expecting the global dispatch date to be June 19th.
Now you've seen the new White/Black/Orange adidas 11Pro SL football boots are you impressed? Are adidas raising their game in terms of boot development? Let us know what you think, share your opinions online, on Twitter and on Facebook.
