The adidas adiPure 11Pro gets thrust into overdrive with the anticipated launch of the adidas 11Pro SL. Combining super lightweight innovation with a classic feel, the new adiPure 11Pro SL breaks all of the rules for what a 'heritage' boot should be. The 11Pro SL means business, weighing a mere 180g – 60g lighter than the standard 11Pro. Share your thoughts online, on Twitter and on Facebook.
The original adidas adiPure SL was one of last years unsung boots. Widely regarded as one of the best looking releases of 2011, the boots were met with numerous plaudits despite minimal on-pitch player support. Now the recharged adidas 11Pro SL is impressively lighter, more advanced and interestingly, more affordable.
While we've become used to brands slapping high price tags on their concept style boots - we're thinking Predator SL, Nike Tiempo Elite, and to a lesser extent last years adiPure SL – the 11Pro SL will be available for a respectable £140. Not bad for a boot that weighs less than the Predator SL and Nike Superfly III. So what makes the 11Pro SL different?
The upper of the adidas 11Pro SL combines a super soft K-leather upper – an upgrade from the Taurus leather used on the standard issues – with adidas' revolutionary single layer Sprintskin synthetic. The two materials combine from front to back, with the Sprintskin providing the necessary lightweight in the heel area.
Since the development of the SprintFrame back in 2010, adidas have revolutionised their major boot silo's as lightweight performance has taken prominence in the boot market. The adidas 11Pro SL outsole unit features a triangular traxion stud configuration in place of the conical stud shapes found on the standard issues. Much like the adizero, these are designed to offer improved directional grip at high speeds.
The lightweight sole unit of the adidas 11Pro SL integrates adidas' miCoach technology through the cavity in the outsole. The benefit of which is to allow you to compete, share and compare your performance statistics. Measuring time, distance, speed, speed zones and number of sprints during a training session or a match, as the adidas miCoach Speed cell stores all your performance data.
Comfort throughout the adidas 11Pro SL is retained through an anatomically moulded EVA insole, similar to the one featured in the adiPure IV, but with the benefit of flexzones in the forefoot to assist movement and improve fit. A soft suede synthetic leather lining provides additional comfort, whilst reducing any foot movement within the boots for a more secure fit. A superlight insole is also alternatively made available.
Once again, the adidas adiPure 11Pro SL won't receive any immediate player support, with adiPure players such as Xabi Alonso, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Frank Lampard all scheduled to wear the White/Black/High Energy 11Pro from this weekend (14.01.12). Even so, with so many advancements and a weight to rival the lightest of speed boots, we expect the adidas 11Pro SL to receive a great reaction!
Certainly over the last 18 months adidas haven't failed to surprise the boots community, and we're eager to see the reaction the latest adidas adiPure 11Pro SL football boots receive. Expected to be available from February 1st, the 11Pro SL soccer shoes (non-bundle) will be available to pre-order from January 13, priced at around £140 GBP / $250 USD / €180 EURO.
Of all the releases in recent weeks, we expect the adidas adiPure 11Pro SL to get one of the biggest reactions! Whether you're a fan or not, adidas are continuing to push the boundaries of boot development. So let us know what you think of the new adidas 11Pro SL.
