They're the choice of some of the worlds greatest players including Lionel Messi, David Villa and Arjen Robben. The phenomenal success of the F50 adizero has in a large part, been down to the overwhelming popularity of the adizero leather. Now with miCoach, adidas are continuing to revolutionise the performance of modern lightweight leather boots!
The leather versions of the F50 adizero have been extremely popular with the pro's, citing Lionel Messi and Arjen Robben as just two outstanding players who opt for the leather versions. Well now adidas can bring you one step closer to the advantages of an elite player, by incorporating your own personal statistician in the shape of the adidas miCoach Speed Cell.
The miCoach Speed Cell chip sits inside a cavity engineered into the out-sole of the leather adidas F50 adizero football boots to monitor and record your key performance data. A concept and data capture only previously accessible to the elite teams, adidas have introduced to the general boot market so an individual can monitor and improve on such areas as; speed, average speed, maximum speed, number of sprints and distance covered.
This addition doesn't impact on the boots performance, as the miCoach Speed Cell is positioned in an area that needs stability, therefore the boot continues to be lightweight, stable and comfortable. What it does is use 360 degree movement, so the on-board memory stores all of your measurements during your game or training for up to seven hours. The stats can then be uploaded to the miCoach website, where they can be shared with friends on Facebook or compared to those of Leo Messi!
Data can be monitored and evaluated to increase performance – a service usually only available to elite athletes! The adidas F50 adizero miCoach acts as your own personal statistician, delivering precise information direct to your computer. The chip that sits inside the out-sole, will allow you to track and upload performance data including speed, max speed, number of sprints, distance, and distance at high intensity levels and time.
The leather adizero's have been a phenomenal success and adidas have made the conscious decision to not deviate from the winning formula. Instead, what we've seen are slight tweaks to the boot, whether that's to offer more support across the mid-foot and enhance transfer of forces from the sole to the upper, or to reshape the studs for improved traction.
What many people will immediately question is the adizero's weight. Have adidas managed to keep the adizero true to what it is – a super lightweight boot. The new adidas F50 adizero miCoach will weigh 173g with the Speed Cell chip fitted into the out-sole, but remove the chip and you're back to the standard adizero weight – a super slender 165g! That's a whole lot of technology squeezed into an 8g chip!
The leather versions of the adizero have been hugely successful, as for many boot fans the fit, touch and feel of a natural leather is unrivalled. As you can see there are two grades of leather, and for the vamp area adidas have used Goleo Calf leather for a supreme touch, snug fit and lightweight upper.
Since the adizero's inception, the Sprintframe out-sole has been the source of the boots' speed. A revolutionary one-piece chassis; thin, flexible and lightweight, the SprintFrame has if anything been improved by the addition of the miCoach chamber. Retaining the heel support and flexibility to the fore of the boot, the placement of the Speed Cell offers increased rigidity in an area of the out-sole you don't want to flex.
To buy the bundle of the new High Energy/White/Electricity adidas F50 adizero miCoach leather football boots with the miCoach Speed Cell and extras will cost £200 GBP / €245 EURO / $270 USD, or alternatively you can still purchase the boot as a stand alone product without the Speed Cell for £150 GBP / €210 EURO / $200 USD. The boot will be available to pre-order from 29th September for a December 1st launch.
