adidas F50 adiZero Leather Football Boots - Chameleon Purple/Electricity

Check out the SoccerBible's exclusive look at another edition of the most talked about boots of the year...      Ok, so first up, the leather edition isn't quite the same on the scales as its' synthetic sprintskin brother. Whilst that version is a mere 165g (5.8oz!), this leather edition is a non-too-flabby 175g, making this arguably adidas' lightest leather boot to date! But what it adds in a few extra grammes this release certainly makes up for in the colour stakes, with the addition of the light-flip chameleon paint job.     Much like the synthetic releease, you may be surprised at how much thought, development and tech adidas have crammed into this 175g cleat. And it seems adidas have listened to what us, the players and boot buying public want, by releasing a stylish leather upper version at launch to allow us to choose our preference!     The new F50 adiZero is a potent weapon for today's speed merchants. This Chameleon Purple/Electricity Green colourway is one of three launch colours, of which this series of boots will be exclusively worn on pitch by F50 ambassador and the World's greatest player, Lionel Messi.       As well as a choice of uppers there are a comprehensive choice of outsoles for different ground conditions. The F50 adiZero football boots are available in three distinct sole plates, from soft ground (SG) to firm ground (FG) and also a new hard ground (HG) plate.       However, one criticism of the leather edition is the removeable of the internal TPU support bands. Obviously, with the nature of the leather material these are not as essential to the structure of the boot but still gives that close ball contact feel. Also, whilst the upper is one piece, the material noticeably changes half way down the boot.       The F50 adiZero adopts an asymmetric parrallel lacing system which moves off-centre to create a greater, cleaner kicking surface. Also introduced is a new "Taperlace" system, intended to be much thinner and flatter to reduce any unncessary material between the foot and the ball. The top of the lace area has also been made wider, so your tied laces won't get in the way as much! Even on this leather release, the lacing sits snug away across the top of the boot.         Benefiting from a new last unique to F50 series, you'll notice a wider yet flatter footbed. This means the studs can be positioned closer to the outside of the sole, giving greater stability. Which is kind of essential when you are looking to create the fastest boot on the planet.     Again, outside of the weight of the new adidas F50 adiZero boots the significant discussion topic is cost. With other performance boots only increasing in price, even the leather version of the adidas F50 adiZero football boots will set you back around £125 GBP ($200 USD) - the same price as the adidas F50i starter packs.     Which, considering all the tech innovations and unbelieveable weight loss, makes the F50 adiZero the serious speed boot we've been crying out for adidas to make - and now in Leather!!
